THE BEAUTIFUL SPIES ARE MIXING IT UP...

One of the highlights of my musical

endeavours was being a part of

the legendary Canadian synthpop

group Rational Youth.

I was privileged to not only

write on the new album and single,

but also to have the once in a lifetime

experience of playing live in both Germany and Sweden in 1998.

13 years after the original release,

the album The Goddess Electricity,

and the single Everything is Vapour,

have been re-mastered for re-release !

Very exciting news, 

and more news to come...Cheers !

Back from Berlin...

Well, I'm back...and I can honestly say that this was probably one of the best if not THE best trip over to pond to Berlin.

It was a week of soaring highs...I've been there many times but the rest of us haven't, but everyone connected instantly and it's as if we all had been playing together for years...everyone pitched in and helped and made the experience even better that i thought it could be.

There was so much crossing over between people and bands it blurred into one cohesive unit.

From myself playing drums for Nora's show, to Nora singing at my show, to Dina and Nora both singing for !Bang Elektronika,
to both Andy and Dina singing for my Datafreq gig, and the fact that both the Bang Elektronika reunion and the first Beautiful Spies gigs happened there was absolutely monumental.

The first show was great, I was nervous but had a alot of fun playing, I was really nervous playing drums for Nora Below,
but I had a blast and that show rocked...Nora is really talented and deserves to go places :)

There were a few glithches as expected, but I think those was one of many "meant to be" things that ended up totally changing things for the better.

The craziest one went like this...

On the Friday, we had a crazy 6 hour sound check(!) due to everything from electrical problems to cable issues.

Dina and I went back to change and get Andy's stuff, as Andy volunteered to stay and try to get the issues resolved.

When Dany came back to pick us up she told us that the ENTIRE PA (!!!) blew, forcing cancellation of the show.

We thought all was lost when it was suggested that we do the show Saturday...it turned out the club was free,
so the Nadjia the promoter and Eric the main sound manager worked really hard to get this happening.

It was an incredible trip and one I'll never ever forget, please check out the videos below,
hopefully I can get more videos and pictures up soon but i must sleep for en entire day lol

Berlin is now 1 week away...

!Bang Elektronika 2011

Andy and I were rehearsing this week, clearing out the cobwebs and trying to remember what the hell we did when we played some of these tracks back in 1994 LOL ;)

We're heading off to Berlin for the !Bang Elektronika reunion show in September, and we've been having a blast blowing the dust off the tracks...

Check out us banging our way thru the old DAF classic, Der Mussolini below ;)

We haven't played this since 1991..., i just programmed the sequencer, jumped on the drums, and off we went...i would like to think we did it justice...

Below that, Flasche in der Hand, a later track that i don't think we ever played live, but i'd have to defer to Andy for that lol

BERLIN 2011

Posters for my upcoming gigs in Berlin this September

First one is a great one, opening for Berlin's electro goddess, Nora Below

It's going to be an awesome night of new wave, electronic, ebm, 80s, you name it :)

And something I never thought would happen,

a reunion of a band I started in 1988 >

!Bang Elektronika !

Our 1993 CD "Aktivierung!" has been re-released and remastered by Infacted Recordings in Germany.

We're going to dig out the classic industrial dance EBM rhythms,

and mix it up with the new wave electropop of my new side project "The Beautiful Spies",

which has a touch of Datafreq with the vocals of Dina Naskos,

who sang in a previous band with me "Colecovision" from 1999 - 2003

All in all, it's going to be a great week in Berlin...which has come to be my second home :)
